Between the Harbour and the Mountain

Reflections on the Ordinary and the Profound

by Patricia Williams

No matter how busy our lives, we often experience pivotal moments that cause us to pause and contemplate the mystery of daily living.

In this eloquently written collection of personal reflections on everyday life, Patricia Williams draws on her encounters with people, on the natural world around her, and on global events.

Gathered together here for the first time, these thematically organised musings range over topics such as nature, culture, the inner self, te ao Māori, faith, unity and our global crisis.

These brief but often illuminating insights offer hope for a brighter future and invite the reader to explore a more thoughtful, contemplative way of living.

AUTHOR INFORMATION

Patricia Williams was born in Aotearoa New Zealand and grew up in colonial Fiji. She taught in primary, secondary and adult education, and later set up a support scheme for young people in a psychopaedic hospital. She also became involved in teaching English to immigrants and refugees, supporting them to settle in their new country.
Patricia lives in a small community of vowed women, all involved in helping professions. Aside from people, her great love is nature. She strongly believes that we humans need to re-establish those ancient bonds with the natural world if we are to survive as a species.
